Bali Goddess Retreats introduction
We are at the place on our journey that is unique to ourselves, there can be no judgment of that, only continued growth.
Welcome to the opening blog of Bali Goddess Women’s Retreats. Let me introduce you to the vision behind these retreats, and I hope you will feel free to join us. I hope you have feasted your eyes on the website, and I thank Annie for her artistic eye in choosing the beautiful pictures of Bali and making the website a visual feast.
I began these retreats because I wanted to celebrate and acknowledge the Goddess within all women, and introduce the concept of inner and outer beauty in a practical and life affirming way. We can be spiritual and still look after our bodies, and we can be material yet initiate spiritual and personal development and growth practices into our lives. I have studied and practiced spirituality for decades. I have gone from one extreme of feeling bad about myself because I wanted to look good and it did not seem to fit with spiritual concepts and following spiritual discipline and believing looks are superficial. As I have matured I have realized that we can actually have it all!
We can follow a spiritual discipline, look good, maintain good health and practice positive affirmation and visualization to stimulate our mind body and soul.
Bali Goddess Retreats came from a vision of sharing knowledge with women who want more from their lives but do not know exactly what that “more” is. And this is truly shared knowledge, so that each person can see that they have something to offer from their experience of life, it is women empowering women. I seek to facilitate women’s capacity to empower themselves, to cultivate spirituality and peace in their lives, and to really give to themselves first, whether the giving is in meditation, massage or cosmetic rejuvenation makes no difference, it is the act of allowing themselves to be, and have their lives, spiritual practice and bodies the way they want them.
The path to Soul growth begins with the individual and if this is through the physical and mental first then that is okay with me, each individual begins where they are and there is no judgment of that, only encouragement to grow and develop on the journey.
Spirituality can be quite elitist, and there is an entire demographic of women who do not enter into personal and spiritual growth because it seems too ungrounded and unattainable, something for the “chosen few”. I want to take women from all backgrounds and show them that they can achieve whatever they want to achieve and they can find a purpose in their lives if they look beyond the conventional cultural “wisdom” of what it means to be successful, spiritual or beautiful.
Many women believe that if they follow a spiritual practice then it is “unspiritual” to want to stay looking good, so cosmetic rejuvenation would be something they eschew. There are also women out there who devote themselves to looking good and neglect their spiritual side and believe that meditation is something that belongs to the Sufi’s only. I wanted to bring them together, to have a truly holistic view of mind, body, spirit integration. Teach metaphysical principles that can be applied to everyday life and really bring hands-on change and growth.
Yes, it is possible to use the power of mind, body spirit integration to affect the atoms of our lives, bodies and faces, and this is a part of the teachings, but let’s face it, most of us are not fully at that level of change, belief and manifestation, so we begin where we can and if what somebody wants is cosmetic rejuvenation then that is okay, a part of her journey and not to be judged. If that is to become a Reiki Master then that is also okay too; and if that is to become a Reiki Master who has also had botox procedure then so what? We are at the place on our journey that is unique to ourselves, there can be no judgment of that, only continued growth.
I also want to facilitate women in their realization of the power of choice. That we live on the Earth in a dimension of choice and that choice is something we do moment to moment and is not a fixed absolute. By using moment to moment choice we can initiate changes slowly and then this can snowball into an entirely new way of being on any level that we choose.
There are so many debates “out there” which constantly look to the nature of duality, right and wrong, black and white. Well I believe that the world is not right/wrong or black/white. We live in a world of colour, of choice, and we choose the colour we want to wear. And we can choose to express ourselves in any way we want, there is no right or wrong, only the choice to experience what we choose to embody in the moment. I choose to wear many colours because I know there is no one Truth, only God, Goddess, universal energy, whatever you choose to name the Great Mystery and that cloak is made of a multitude of tones and colours – it is called Creation. And we are here and have the capacity to create life the way we want it.
The Dalai Lama said that it is up to women to change the World. Women are extremely powerful yet have allowed themselves to lose their voices in many parts of their lives. It is now a time of change, and part of that change is to find the voice and speak up. But first we must give back to ourselves and know that we are deserving of it, we then feel empowered to make changes that are for the good of all. And there are some incredible women out there leading the way such as Lisa Nichols, Ellie Drake, and Sandie Forster to name but a few.
At the same time as making spiritual concepts more practical, I am also aware that I can sometimes speak a language that is not always accessible so I included a retreat that is for myself personally. The Reiki Retreat where I can meet other healers and therapists and speak the language that is of my Soul and also introduce others to the language of healing. I also have plans to include Healing for Healers where therapists can come and relax with others and have personalized healing for themselves, as we know it can take a lot out of us giving to others all the time; a psychic development retreat; and also a Moon Goddess week is in the making where we can celebrate the Goddess Within in the land where the Balinese also celebrate the cycles of the moon - so there is a real kinship.
I look forward to having you on board and hope you will celebrate the Goddess within yourself and live an inspired life of colourful creation that you choose.
